Al Diaz is a native New York artist best known for his friendship and collaboration on the SAMO©… graffiti (that appeared in lower Manhattan from 1978-1980) with Jean Michel Basquiat. A prolific and influential first generation graffiti artist who would later become a text based street artist, Diaz’s career spans five decades.
