ABOUT THE COVERS

These sketchbooks are adorned by rare and -- until recently – uncirculated abstract paintings by legendary New York graffiti artist Fernando Miteff, famously known as Nic 707. Until his passing in 2020, he created hundreds of his own works for the InstaFame Phantom Art movement as well as hundreds more in collaboration with dozens of famed and up-and-coming artists from many genres. These pieces were displayed for over a ten-year period throughout the New York City transit system. While Nic 707 created hundreds of abstracts that were used in celebrated collaborative works, only eleven of these abstracts are known to remain in their original form. Of these eleven, seven have been chosen to appear as sketchbook covers in this series.
